Dean Potempa Honors Senator Stabenow for Commitment to Nursing Education
AACN’s Congressional Appreciation Award recognizes exceptional dedication to the advancement of nursing.
In January, Dr. Kathleen Potempa - dean of the University of Michigan School of Nursing and president of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) – honored Senator Debbie Stabenow for her unyielding advocacy in Washington on behalf of nursing education. Senator Stabenow’s efforts include fighting for the Graduate Nursing Education demonstration program in the Affordable Care Act, her support of initiatives such as the Nursing Workforce Development Programs (Title VIII, Public Health Service Act), and her membership on the newly formed Senate Nursing Caucus.
