Study explores the extent and types of nursing care that are missed in hospital settings.

An article co-authored by Drs. Bea Kalisch, Dana Tschannen, and Christopher Friese of the School of Nursing, along with Dr. Hyunhwa Lee of the National Institute of Nursing Research for the NIH, has been published online on the website of the American Journal of Medical Quality, and will be published in a forthcoming print issue of the journal as well. The article, titled "Hospital Variation in Missed Nursing Care," explores the reasons for missed care across different hospitals. The hope is that the findings will help inform quality improvement efforts to reduce occurrences of the kinds of missed nursing care explored in the study, resulting in more favorable patient outcomes.
