Premier Episode of Detroit Health Talk Show Features Dr. Strobbe
Adjunct faculty member Dr. Stephen Strobbe will discuss Prescription Drug Addiction on new show Ask Dr. Nandi.
A new television talk show premiering Wednesday, May 16th, at 11:00 AM in Detroit will welcome Dr. Stephen Strobbe, Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at U-M School of Nursing, as a special guest on its first episode. The show, Ask Dr. Nandi, is hosted by Detroit-based physician Dr. Partha Nandi and will air on WADL, Channel 38. Each episode will focus on a single health problem with the aim of encouraging patient advocacy and education.
The first episode of Ask Dr. Nandi discusses the topic of Prescription Drug Addiction. Dr. Strobbe brings to the show his expertise as an Addictions Nursing Specialist at U-M Addiction Treatment Services (UMATS). “The misuse of prescription medications has become a pressing public health problem across the lifespan,” said Dr. Strobbe. “A recent government report identified adolescent substance use as our nation’s number one health problem. It’s refreshing and encouraging to see a new television show that is willing to tackle such an important and difficult issue in one of their first episodes.”
In a press release promoting the show, Dr. Nandi explained his goal for the TV show as eliminating intimidation from health care and empowering patients. “I want patients to know the truth about their care,” he said. “If you feel you’re not being heard, please get another opinion. Be an advocate for your own care.”
