Study by Research Fellow Sarah Stoddard Receives National Attention

Many years worth of data show connection between head injuries and violence.

Research by Sarah Stoddard, a fellow in the School of Nursing and assistant professor in the School of Public Health, has shown a revealing new connection between head injuries and violent behavior. School of Nursing Graduate Student Instructor Carmen Alvarez has been honored this year with a Debt Management Award from the Rackham Graduate School. The $10,000 award is given to those doctoral students who commit themselves to public service.

School of Nursing Mourns Passing of Jo Eleanor Elliott

Jo Eleanor Elliott, former president of the American Nurses Association and a University of Michigan alumna who taught at the School of Nursing for five years, died May 1. She was 87.

Elliott served as president of the American Nurses Association from 1964 through 1968, during which time the ANA advocated support of the newly formed Medicare program. Doctoral Student Awarded a Spring/Summer Research Grant
