Former Faculty Member Named Dean, U of I School of Nursing

PhD Student Named Member of NACNEP

Rochman BSN, RN, and PhD student in the School of Nursing's Nursing Systems and Health Policy program was made a member of the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education Practice (NACNEP) committee at large. Monica has acquired clinical experience in a variety of health care settings including emergency nursing, long-term care, quality assurance, policy development, and clinical research. Retirement of Drs. Ketefian and Loveland-Cherry

Dr. Lori becomes ACNM Fellow
May 28, 2010Dr. Jody Lori was selected to be a Fellow in the American College of Nurse-Midwives (FACNM). She will be inducted at the 55th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, DC on June 13, 2010. This great honor acknowledges her demonstrated leadership, clinical excellence, outstanding scholarship, and professional achievement both within midwifery profession and beyond.
2010 Alumni Society Scholarships
May 20, 2010In 2010, the School of Nursing Alumni Society awarded 24 scholarships totaling $55,400 to the school's most outstanding students. Congratulations to these scholarship students and thank you to all of the alumni who support the Alumni Society with gifts and dues payments.
Alumna Celebrates 100th Birthday
May 14, 2010Lettie Shilling (class of 1930) celebrated her 100th birthday in May 2010. In her daughter’s online tribute she said, “We recognize you as a beacon of hope for our future and symbol of dignity for our history.” The School of Nursing wishes Lettie all the best.
Dr. Talsma Receives Funding from BCBS
May 11, 2010Dr. AkkeNeel Talsma has received funding for her Peri-operative Outcomes Initiative study from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBS). Dr. Talsma's study aims to evaluate and improve peri-operative processes that contribute to patient outcomes by taking advantage of National Surgical Quality Improvement Project (NSQIP) data submitted to the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative (MSQC). The initiative will operate within the organizational context of MSQC and will also collect its own data and provide feedback to the hospitals on peri-operative processes and outcomes.
Dr. Larson featured at ATS Forum
