INNOVATION WEEK KICK-OFF

(NURSING BUILDING 2 - LOBBY - 7:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.)

• We invite students and faculty to stop by and grab a bagel and some HiiP swag to start your day or fuel your afternoon.
• We will also be launching the “#IamaNurseInnovator” contest for students which will run through the week.  More to come.

UMSN NURSE FACULTY INNOVATOR SHOWCASE

(NURSING BUILDING 2 - Room 1000 - 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M.)

Attend via Zoom (If remote and not attending to watch the Showcase on Zoom on campus) Passcode: UMSN

• Tune in and learn about some of the exciting, and important, innovations that have been launched, or are being worked on, by our very own faculty researchers and clinicians.  The projects are wide-ranging in scope and we know you’ll be inspired from their stories.  Open to faculty and students.
• Some of the nurses being featured in this showcase, and their innovations, include the following, with more being added all the time.

INAUGURAL UMSN HiiP NURSING INNOVATION CONFERENCE

(NURSING BUILDING 2 - ROOM 1250 – 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

• Please join us for our inaugural full-day Nursing Innovation Conference.  The day promises to be informative and address many knowledge gaps that we know our Faculty Innovators and nursing students have voiced to us in our innovation surveys.  The line-up includes professionals and peers who work in, or have ventured into, the nursing innovation arena and who are enthusiastic to share their insights and hard-won lessons on these entrepreneurial journeys.

  • University of Michigan Health Nursing Professional Development & Education is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

    6.0  Nursing contact hours will be provided

• The HiiP Student Innovation Ambassadors are pleased to present a talk entitled, The Smart Care Team: Nurse Led Transformation and Innovation, by Molly McCarthy, MBA, RN-BC, the current Global Go-to-Market Excellence Leader for Enterprise Informatics at Phillips and former US Chief Nursing Officer at Microsoft.
• This speaker is a seasoned executive who knows how to harness the power of IT to positively transform health so students and faculty alike are invited to hear her speak.

HIIP INNOVATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

• This is an invite only event for a core group of interdisciplinary professionals who provide guidance and counsel to HiiP as we continue to map out the school’s, HiiP’s, and our innovators'—faculty and students—paths forward in the field of nursing innovation.

HIIP’S NEW OFFICE SPACE OPEN HOUSE

(11:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., BUILDING 1, ROOM 2240)

• We welcome you to come visit HiiP’s new home in Building 1 Room 2240 and grab a sweet treat.  Drop in any time from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm to see our new space for faculty and students to gather in to brainstorm, innovate, check out resources, meet to talk about their projects…whatever is needed.  Welcome home Nursing Innovators!

• To close our Nursing Innovation Week, HiiP will be launching the next two podcasts in our Inspire ∙ Invent ∙ Impact Nursing Innovation podcast series. These next two podcasts will focus on intellectual property and commercialization. The  faculty podcast will be with Tina Suntres from Innovation Partnerships.  The Student Views podcast, conducted by two of our Innovation Ambassadors, will be with Julia Seng, co-creator of Survivor Mom’s Companion, on her journey through ip and commercialization issues to launching this program to the marketplace.
