Nursing Alumni Awards

The UMSN Alumni Awards Committee is seeking nominations for alumni awards to be presented during the School of Nursing All-Class Reunion event on Friday, September 13, 2024.

Awards:

The Career Lifetime Achievement Award (formerly Distinguished Alumni Award) recognizes a UMSN graduate whose has made sustained and exceptional contributions to nursing during his/her career either as clinician, educator, leader, or administrator.

The Excellence in Clinical Practice Award recognizes a UMSN graduate who has promoted evidence-based practice that effectively aligns theory and research with clinical applications.

The Early Career Achievement Award recognizes a UMSN graduate who, within the first ten years after graduation, has been gaining recognition for making advances and improvements within the nursing profession.

Timing:

  • Nomination period is open from April 3 to May 17, 2024.
  • Awards recipients will be recognized at the annual All-Class Nursing Reunion on Friday, September 13.

How to Nominate:

Nominators need not be alumni of the UM School of Nursing.

Supporting documentation is to be uploaded to the nomination form and includes:

  • Nomination statement that includes the title of the award and description of how the candidate meets the award criteria (listed on nomination form)
  • Current Curriculum Vitae
  • Two letters of support

PLEASE NOTE: All supporting documents may NOT exceed 12 pages overall.

Self-nominations are NOT accepted.

Eligibility: 

All Nursing alumni who are graduates of the University of Michigan School of Nursing, any degree level.  

Nominators must have a google account to submit an award nomination. If you do not have a google account and would like to submit a nomination, please email the UMSN Alumni Relations Liaison, Coreen Abston at [email protected].

Current members of the UMSN Alumni Awards Committee are not eligible for these awards.

Selection Process: 

The UMSN Alumni Awards Committee will review all nominations and base their endorsement upon the contents submitted in the nomination packet.
