Neal Hautz - McLelland Memorial Scholarship recipientLike so many of us at U-M, Neal found a community in football. Playing in high school, he built a deep sense of purpose from being part of the team and uniting with others around that common goal of victory. In his junior year, when a bad injury ended Neal's season, it was a caring group of nurses who helped him heal both physically and emotionally, piquing his interest in the profession.

Once his acceptance letter to U-M came, Neal quickly realized he needed financial help to make his U-M dreams a reality. Thankfully, the McLelland Memorial Scholarship from theUniversity of Michigan School of Nursing removed that financial barrier, and Neal became a Wolverine. Now, he’s hoping to refocus his team mentality from winning games to saving lives.
