Overview

The University of Michigan (U-M) privacy statement recognizes the value of privacy of the university community members and its guests.

This unit-level privacy notice provides more specific information on how the School of Nursing’s website nursing.umich.edu and its subdomains collect and process your personal information.

Scope

The notice applies to our practices for gathering and disseminating information related to the School of Nursing website nursing.umich.edu and its subdomains (“we”, “us”, or “our”) and is meant to provide you an overview of our practices when collecting and processing personal information.

  • The internet domain from which a visitor accesses the website 
  • The IP address assigned to the visiting computer or device
  • The type of browser used to access the site
  • The date and time of the visit

What type of informaiton we collect

Direct collection

  • Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, etc.
  • University affiliation information, such as UMID, program, attendance dates, name and email of advisor, etc.
  • Grant information, such as research questions, justification, travel destination, and prior funding approvals.
  • Submissions, such as your questions, comments, news items, and interests.

Automated Collection by U-M

When a device accesses our website’s subdomains, we automatically collect and store information provided by the device if available, such as a U-M username (uniqname), or an IP address, a browser’s user agent string, and the last time the device logged in to the website.

Automated Collection by Third Parties

We partner with third-party advertising and marketing providers, such as Google Analytics, to automatically collect and store certain information about your visit. The information includes:

  • The internet domain from which a visitor accesses the website 
  • The IP address assigned to the visitor’s computer 
  • The type of browser the visitor is using 
  • The date and time of the visit 
  • The address of the website from which the visitor has linked to www.michiganross.umich.edu
  • Content viewed during the visit
  • Amount of time spent on the website.

How this information is used?

We use the personal  information we collect to:

  • Create content for our newsletters and other school materials.
  • Communicate with you by adding you to opt-in mailing lists for news, events, and class notes, and responding to your questions and requests for information.
  • Monitor website performance and make improvements to site navigation and content based on user visits and interactions.
  • Support School of Nursing’s administration and research activities.
  • Support educational programs related to admissions.

With whom this information is shared?

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may, however, share your personal information in limited circumstances, such as with university partners or external service providers that support our business activities.

Direct collection
