May 04, 2010Dr. Joanne Pohl was invited to speak at the May 2010 Health Affairs Press Conference on Reinventing Primary Care: Urgent Prescriptions. Health Affairs is the leading journal of health policy and research and the briefing examined what policies are needed to increase the corps of primary care providers and to improve practice as well as explored the promising models of care that are likely to produce the best outcomes.
Grad Student Wins Poster Award at MNRS Annual Conference
Apr 29, 2010Sarah Bauss, master’s student in the Department of Acute, Critical and Long-Term Care Programs, won second place for her poster presentation at the Midwestern Nursing Research Society’s Annual Conference among over 100 entries. Her poster entitled, “Risk-Reduction and Screening Behaviors of Women at High Risk for Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome” is part of her N699 Independent Research Project and Dr. Maria Katapodi serves as her advisor.
Dr. Holden Selected as NIH Center Member
Apr 27, 2010Dr. Janean Holden was selected to serve as a member of the National Institutes of Health Nursing Science: Adults and Older Adults Study Section, Center for Scientific Review for a four-year term. Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant activities, achievements and honors.
Dr. Coleman-Burns Receives Award at 2010 Black Celebratory
Apr 21, 2010Dr. Patricia Coleman-Burns received the Faculty Cornerstone Award for the 2010 Black Celebratory. Founded in 1999, the Cornerstone Award is given annually to recognize the unique contributions and assistance an individual has made that enhance the academic and social progress of African American students at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Pohl Named FAANP
Apr 16, 2010The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) announced that they will induct Dr. Joanne Pohl as a Fellow of the AANP (FAANP) during the AANP’s national conference in Phoenix, Arizona on June 23, 2010. A limited number of NPs are selected for this highly coveted distinction each year. The School of Nursing heartily congratulates Dr. Pohl on her accomplishments.
Dr. Katapodi RWJF Nurse Faculty Scholar Semi-Finalist
Apr 12, 2010Dr. Maria Katapodi was notified that she is a semi-finalist for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholars program. This is a highly-competitive process and only 12 applicants are selected annually. Additional interviews will follow in May. Dr. Katapodi follows in the footsteps of Dr. AkkeNeel Talsma, an inaugural scholar.
Second Annual Dean's Lecture and Research Day
