Dr. Elizabeth (Beth) Duffy is a clinical associate professor and director of the doctor of nursing practice program.  Her areas of expertise include pediatric acute care and pediatric primary care. As a former pediatric oncology nurse and pediatric nurse practitioner, she is focused upon improving patient outcomes for children with cancer through multidisciplinary quality improvement projects. One area of interest is the prevention of central line-associated bloodstream infection through the implementation of evidence-based care bundles. She is the appointed chair of the evidence-based practice subcommittee for Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and is a member of the COG nursing discipline steering committee.  As a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing she serves on the Child, Adolescent, and Family expert panel.  In addition, she is a contributing editor for Wong’s Nursing Care of Infants and Children.

Teaching

Dr. Duffy is clinical faculty for the Doctor of Nursing Practice residency courses focusing upon project design, implementation,and evaluation. She is co-faculty of record for N371 Infant, Child, and Adolescent Health and Illness. She also is involved in the honors program, incorporating students in her quality improvement work in pediatric acute care at Michigan Medicine.
