The university yearbooks usually contain lists, photographs, and sometimes profiles of faculty members. The Michiganensian is the University of Michigan's yearbook, beginning with its first volume in 1897. Prior to the Michiganensian, three other publications served sporadically as yearbooks: the Castalian, the Palladium (published by the university's secret societies), and the Res Gestae (published by the Law School). The Medical School also began publishing their own yearbook, Aequanimitas, in 1957.
