Grimshaw stayed in the Northeast to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Connecticut. She decided it was time to continue the U-M family tradition by earning her... Read more

Jun 27, 2017Nursing students may wake up early and work long hours, but not many of them start and end their day by taking care of a herd of dairy goats, a handful of ducks, some chicken, and a couple of horses.
Michael Cochenour, doctorate of nursing practice (DNP) student who expects to defend in December 2017, does all that and more. On five acres in South Lyon, Michigan, he and his family are in the process of starting a micro-dairy with the goal of selling goat milk, cheeses, yogurt, and ice cream in local stores.
Cochenour also works full-time at the John D. Dingell VA Medical... Read more

Jun 16, 2017Sometimes just one clinical experience as a student is powerful enough to set the course for a career. That’s what happened to Jesus (Jessie) Casida, PhD, RN, APN-C, at a cardiology unit during his junior year of nursing school.

Just like that, Casida had found the focus area to which he would dedicate his career, first as a nurse in cardiac surgery critical care and now as an assistant professor at the... Read more

Joseph Morris, Ph.D., CNS, GNP (BSN ’97, MSN ’02) is a true Michigan man.
