Introducing iCON, Michigan's New Health Services & Life Skills App for Sexual & Gender Minority Youth

The Center for Sexuality and Health Disparities (SexLab), based in the schools of Nursing and Public Health at the University of Michigan, has launched an innovative online resource aimed at linking sexual and gender minority youth to services in southeast Michigan. UMSN Faculty Member Selected for Clinician Scholars Program Now Open to Nurses

Nurses have a new opportunity to strengthen leadership skills and make a greater impact in health care through the newly revamped National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP). The new version of the program includes doctorally-prepared nurses training alongside physicians.

Future Navy Nurses Get Clinical and Life Lessons from Veterans

“We didn’t ask to be assigned to the VA,” says Helen Galliani, a University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) sophomore. “It just worked out that way, and it’s been great to learn more about veterans and their health issues, especially since that is part of our future.”

GIVING BLUEDAY

U-M’s second annual Give Blueday is being hailed as a resounding success, with the School of Nursing receiving the largest gift campus-wide. A $1 million donation was given to support nursing student scholarships. In addition, a $50,000 gift will support work with victims of human trafficking, and dozens more donors gave to support school and student needs. Guest speaker James “Pat” Ferguson, PhD, shared how a severe spinal cord injury changed his life when he was 21 years old and about to report for active duty in the Air National Guard. $1.5 Million Grant for Leading Interprofessional Collaborative Practice for Underserved Populations

Nurses will take the lead in a new program designed to improve chronic care coordination for underrepresented and underserved populations. University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN) will expand its partnership with Community Health and Social Services (CHASS) Center by implementing a new program for Registered Nurse Chronic Care Coordinators to lead interdisciplinary teams, which include MDs, pharmacists, support staff, and social workers.
