Commencement Day Schedule for Students
Saturday, May 4, 2024
12:30 - 12:45 p.m.
- Graduates arrive at Hill Auditorium between 12:30-12:45 p.m.
- Enter the building on the EAST side (entrance by Ingalls Mall) and go directly to the THIRD FLOOR BALCONY to check-in. Please stop at the registration table to pick up your name card. UMSN staff will assist in directing you to your line-up area.
- Please wear your cap and gown. ROTC graduates may choose to wear their formal uniform if preferred. The type of clothing worn under your academic attire is at your discretion, however, we strongly recommend you wear shoes that are easy to walk in as the Hill stage can sometimes be slippery and you will be going up and down several sets of stairs for line-up. Please only bring personal items that fit into pockets under your academic attire to avoid misplacing these items.
- Please do not bring any purses, backpacks, coats or other personal belongings with you. We recommend leaving these items in your car or with your family members. You will not have an opportunity to re-enter the third floor balcony after the ceremony.
- Ph.D. and DNP Students – additional details will be emailed to you about the hooding portion of the ceremony.
12:45 p.m.
- Hill Auditorium will open to guests at approximately 12:45 p.m. Guests should enter through the front doors and be seated by 1:25 p.m. Aside from the seating area reserved for graduates, it is general seating and guests may sit wherever they prefer.
- If you have any guests that require special assistance, please review this information.
- Please encourage your guests to arrive early for a good seat. Guests are requested to remain seated throughout the program.

- Ceremony start time at Hill Auditorium
3:30 p.m.
- Approximate end time of the ceremony. Reception to immediately follow at the Michigan League which is just across Ingalls Mall from Hill Auditorium.
The School of Nursing invites you and your guests to a reception where you will have the opportunity to participate in any or all of the following:
- BSN students may be pinned
- Photo opportunities
- Reception food and drink
