When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas for Bachelor's, Master's and DNP degree recipients will be mailed approximately two to three months after the graduation date to the address on file with the Diploma Department. Ph.D. diplomas are distributed at the university-wide Winter Commencement and at the University Graduate Exercises. More information is available at the Office of the Registrar.

Is there a Pinning Ceremony?

Graduates completing their BSN degree will receive a complimentary nursing pin when they cross the stage to be acknowledged with their nursing program cohort.

Are tickets needed for the Nursing Commencement Ceremony?

No, tickets are not needed for the Nursing Ceremony at Hill Auditorium. However, tickets are required to participate in the All-University Commencement ceremony at the Michigan Stadium.

Is there a rehearsal for the nursing commencement?

There is no rehearsal for the ceremony. However, instructions and logistical information will be sent via e-mail as the date approaches.

How long will the Nursing ceremony last? 

The ceremony will last approximately two hours. 

What time will the reception begin? 

The reception will begin immediately after the ceremony ends. 

Will there be a photographer?

Photographs of all graduates are taken by Graduation Foto when they cross the stage during the ceremony.

  • Graduates will be asked to enter a mailing address via a QR code when they arrive in the student robing area on commencement day. 
  • Participants will receive a free photo proof mailed by Graduation Foto to the provided address. 
  • These photographic prints will be available for purchase for an additional fee. 

Individuals who have not received a photo proof within three weeks of the ceremony should contact Graduation Foto at 734-677-3400. All questions regarding photographs from the nursing commencement or ordering pictures, should be directed to Graduation Foto directly.

WILL THE NURSING CEREMONY BE Recorded? 

The U-M School of Nursing will be live-streaming commencement through the the U-M YouTube channel. A recording will be available to view after the commencement ceremony.
